What is STEAM and How Does it Help Students Engage and Perform Better at School?

Dive deeper into understanding how STEAM provides a deeper, more enriching experience with real-life application.

STEAM offers a carefully balanced curriculum that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math throughout their day and different classes develops a student's analytical skills and trains them to find creative solutions to real challenges. By incorporating each of the disciplines into coursework, students are able to see how each element interacts with the other and teaches relevant approaches to problem-solving.

STEAM programs are effective ways to make instruction come to life and to continually link real-world scenarios with relevant teaching.  Project-based learning, partnerships with local businesses, competitions, and clubs help ensure our students receive a holistic, integrated, STEAM educational experience.

Additionally STEAM programs are highly acclaimed for developing 21st-century skills.  These 12 skills encompass:

  • Life and Career Skills:  Flexibility & Adaptability, Initiative and Direction, Social & Cross-Cultural, Productivity & Accountability, and Leadership & Responsibility
  • Learning and Innovation: Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking
  • Information, Media, and Technology Skills:  Information Literacy, Media Literacy, and Technology Literacy

all of which help to ensure consistent development of competencies that are required now and will be required as we move further into this century.

Academic offerings differ with each school.  Please contact your CSUSA school to see which programs they may offer.
